News from NHS shortage in PICU beds in the UK

Same problem arises each year in the Netherlands (2007-2015) (Annual Reports)
Due to shortage in available PICU beds for critically ill children:

admissions cancelled or postponed for elective patients

acute critical ill patients transported across the country

or transported abroad to Belgium and Germany

sometimes temporary solutions are found at neonatal or adult ICUs
or even improvised beds outside a ICU with additional PICU nursing

Patient/Parent Satisfaction concerning stay at the PICU (EMPATHIC)

In collaboration with MRDM and PatientInvolved an online version is developed of the EMPATHIC questionnaire which will provide an inside to quality of care for children at the PICUs

Results from the EMPATHIC questionnaire are part of the Annual PICE Reports since 2010 to the Reports
